Measure aims to increase takeoffs and promote tourism, keeping a rate by 12% to encourage airlines
The Government of SP has announced the extension of the reduced ICMS rate on aviation kerosene by the end of 2025. The measure, which maintains the tax by 12%, aims to encourage airlines to increase the number of takeoffs in the state.
According to information from the policy aims to make the air sector more competitive and attractive, increasing the flow of flights and passengers at São Paulo airports. To qualify for the reduced rate, airlines must meet counterparts, such as performing at least 100 new weekly takeoffs at SP terminals.
In addition, the Stopover period will be expanded, allowing passengers a prolonged connection of up to 5 days at no additional costs. The initiative aims to promote tourism and the local economy, benefiting airports in cities such as São José dos Campos, Araraquara, Franca and Barretos.
The Secretariat of Tourism and Travel and ABEAR (Brazilian Association of Airlines) were responsible for the decision. It is expected that the measure generates increasing demand for flights and tourist services.
