The meeting is scheduled for 14h. In addition to the president of SPTrans, Levi Oliveira, will be present the mayor of the capital, Ricardo Nunes, the secretary of transport, Celso Caldeira, secretaries of other folders, such as government and farm, and the attorney general of the municipality, Luciana Nardi.
Internally, the termination of the contract with the companies is already worked. Nunes has even spoken publicly on the subject. For the mayor, the moment is “delicate”, as the news of expiry can generate staff strike. Transwolf operates in the south of the capital and Upbus in the East Zone. In the case of Transwolf, part of the current fleet is made of people who rent the collectives for the company. Municipal management says it is closely following the subject.
After the expiration process has been done, the City of São Paulo will open a new bid to know new companies willing to operate the two bus fleets. The process should disrupt Nunes plans to extinguish SPTrans, as the process of new bids is bureaucratic and time consuming and, until then, the lines remain under the management of the capital’s transport agency.
Both companies have been under intervention since April 2024, when they were targeted by Operation Final da Linha, from the São Paulo Public Prosecution Service, which investigates alleged connection of the directors with the CCP (first command of the capital).
