The Office of the Commissioner for Children on Wednesday in Bratislava organized the historically first meeting of the newly formed Parliament of Children and Youth from Ukraine. It provides a platform For Ukrainian children living in Slovakia to express their needs, experience and suggestions to address current challenges. “This parliament is proof that even children who have gone through a difficult life experience have something to say and can influence their environment. If we want them to grow in strong and confident people who will be quality and full -fledged members of this society, we must take their voice seriously, “said Jozef Mikloško, Commissioner for Children. In his words, every child has the right to be heard and respected.
As Adam said, they participated in the parliament meeting Representatives of three ministries who discussed with 36 children. At the first meeting in her words They dealt with the education of Ukrainian children and youth, their adaptation in immigration or social protection and representation of children under 18, that fled before the war without parents. The aim of the initiative is strengthen the participation of children and youth in decision -making processes and to support their right to express their viewsin accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
