What happened
- On Wednesday (29/1), the price of coffee has reached the highest nominal value in almost 50 years, since 1977, closing the day negotiated at US $ 3,665 per pound at ICE (Global Reference for Café Arabica prices ).
- Just over a year ago, at the end of October 2023, the price of coffee was $ 1.693, less than half of the current value.
- With the trigger in commodity prices, Brazilians feel the impacts on their pockets. Over the past year, the price of coffee to the end consumer has shot more than 40%.
- In January 2024, the kilo of roasted and ground coffee cost an average of R $ 29.62. In December, the value was $ 42.65.

With the high prices also in the international market, Brazil has been exporting more. Last year, the country registered a 28% growth in the number of bags boarded (50.4 million) compared to 2023.
