Do you know what purpose the cotton rods are for? You will (pleasantly) surprised…
We owe the cotton rods to the American of Polish origin, Leu Gerstenzang, who patented his “invention” in 1923. How did he find him? Simply… one day he watched his wife Ziuta cleaning his little daughter ears with a toothpick coated with cotton wool. So he thought that other children would need a similar aid to clean their ear canal and began to produce the first finished sterilized cotton swabs in care for children.

Dangerous habit
Meanwhile, this “cleaner” began to have popularity among adults. Until then, no one has solved the ear sebum and now? Suddenly it became a fashion affair that fell to men and women around the world.
To this day, cotton sticks are an integral part of bathrooms and cosmetic briefcases. But to the general displeasure of doctors. One of them – a neurologist specializing in the treatment of ears and skull diseases, Douglas Backou, has been heard that the removal of ear sebum is addictive and some people create addiction.
Not in the ears not!
“When you remove the ear sebum, you will create dry skin in the place that can unpleasantly itch. This then attracts many to take the cotton rod and scratch in that place. Insensitive tabling in the ears can damage the ear canal, ”warned an expert in one of the articles. According to him, ear sebum (in reasonable quantity) acts as a “plug” that protects the inner ear from infection and dirt.
Cosmetics
So if they are not – from a health point of view – cotton wool sticks suitable for cleaning the ears, what is their proper use? “The cotton wool sticks are a versatile tool. You can use it as a make -up correction. When you moisten it in make -up milk, it can prepare an incorrectly applied mascara, eyeliner or eye shadow, ”says the expert, adding that the cotton rod can also help you paint your nails. It is sufficient for you to immerse it in a nail polish remover for a moment and then remove any overflows that were created by inaccurate painting.
Cleaners one joy!
The cotton cotton rod is narrow and thus gives it the opportunity to use it for cleaning smaller or narrower spaces. “I like to use it, for example, when cleaning the remote control,” admits the expert, who also uses the cotton wool to apply glue, for example to repair broken porcelain or other minor repairs.
Ticks
You can also use the stick as a reliable tool for pulling ticks. How to do it: Spread the tick and its surroundings of disinfection. Then take the cotton wool stick and wipe the parasite from side to side until they let go. Once you pull out the “bloodshed”, the place thoroughly disinfect and keep track of it so that you do not get clogged. Of course, wrap the cotton wool sticks in paper and throw away immediately.
