New Uncovered Stand in the US increases alert. Exit by the Americans from WHO can have consequences for the study of the disease.
A new report by the World Animal Health Organization notes that the “Highly Pathogenic Avian Flu (HPAI) H5N9”It was confirmed in a commercial exploration of ducks in Merced County, California, the
“This is the first confirmed case of H5N9 HPAI in domestic birds in the United States,” reads in the report.
The outbreak that has occurred in the US has already killed a human. Local authorities ensure that they are conducting “exhaustive epidemiological investigations.”
Experts, including the World Health Organization, have warned of the potential in humans of this disease. 67 people have already been infected, so far.
Nevertheless, the transmission will not have happened between humans, but through the contact of people with an affected animal.
Still, the bird influenza virus can be mutated for a contagious strain between humans and trigger a human pandemic. It is, at least, that believes WHO.
According to Science Alert, in the US, bird flu is also transmitted among other animals, for example in cows. Studies conducted in this country on the disease have contributed to a better understanding.
If the US and WHO cease to cooperate and share essential data, it will be more difficult to follow the spread of the virus at international level, so, according to WHO, last week, the US withdrawal is “a concern for world health.”
