Hyacinth is a perennial flower, but it blooms only once a year. Planted in the ground usually – in March or in April. Flowers planted in a pot and bought, e.g. in January, flourish much earlier. At home, the plant blooms even for two weeks, you only need to skillfully care for it. Watering, but also the right position is important. Flowers need a lot of light. The best will be the window sill, under which there is no radiator. It is good that the temperature does not exceed 20 degrees C. In addition to the appropriate position, about which we write above, watering is an important element of hyacinth care. These plants must have moist soil, if it dries slightly, the flowers will quickly wither. It is best to water them once a week, but be careful not to wet the onion. You should not sprinkle leaves or flowers, because they can rot.

As we wrote above, hyacinths are multi -season plants, so after flowering, we do not throw away the onion. In the next season we can plant it in the garden or on the balcony. It will not bloom in a home pot. Why? Hyacints planted in the garden bloom from March even to mid -May. Those planted at home can bloom in December. It is thanks to rushing onions. Such a procedure involves long cooling of the onion, and then placing them at a higher temperature. But this can only be done once. The hyacinth, which we bought in a pot, was probably prepared for sale in this way, so when it breaks, we can plant it, for example, in the garden. For this purpose, we remove flowers, but leave the shoot and leaves. We move the plant to a cool place and rarely water. When the leaves wither, remove them, remove the onion from the ground, dry and store them in a paper bag, in a breathable, dark place. At the beginning of October, we plant in the garden. We choose a slightly shaded place for this. We bury the onions in a hole, the depth of which corresponds to its three lengths. Hyacinth will bloom in spring. After flowering, we dig the bulbs again and repeat the action. Properly stored and planted plants will enjoy us for the next four years. If we don’t have a garden, we can winter hyacinth on the balcony. We plant them in boxes that need to be protected against frosts.
