President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) responded, this Thursday (30), to criticism made by the national president of the PSD, Gilberto Kassab. Yesterday, Kassab stated that Lula’s possibility reelected in 2026 “It’s not easy”besides classifying Haddad as “weak”.
“When I saw the story of fellow Kassab, I started to laugh, because as he said, if the election was today, I would lose. I looked at the calendar and saw that as the election is almost two years from now, I was carefree, ”Lula said in his first meeting with journalists at Planalto Palace this year.
“I think he [Kassab] It was at the Ministry of Finance. I may not like a person personally, but not recognize that Haddad started our government coordinating the transition PEC, because we had no money to rule the country in 2023, and we managed to approve the PEC that allowed, in a fully adverse congress. We have money to make the policies and still pay the debts of the last government, ”added the president.
Lula then praised Haddad’s performance in the preparation of the tax framework and tax reform.
“I think Haddad is an extraordinary minister. He convinced the entire government and Congress that in addition to complying with the framework, we could not spend more than 2.5% of the investment. Then he coordinated something that the world will have, which was the tax reform. It was, in fact, a miracle that we managed to do a tax policy, which will come into force in 2027, ”said Lula.
“Just because Haddad should be praised by Kassab,” the president concluded.
