The view of the snowy landscape, or even the city, is beautiful, but also brings some risks. Even a slight slip on ice can mean unpleasant complications. But we know how to defend ourselves.

Going to cross the city when it is covered with a glacier is a real challenge for the courageous. Crueds, but not even fractures, may not wait long, so let’s rather take active steps against such a danger. One option is to buy non -slip shoes or special shoes, but we can also solve it more easily as using the material we most likely have at home.

Do you know the deadlines? Some of them explain youtub video in the channel Czech Hydrometeorological Institute:

Take advantage of the rest of the silicone

Anyone who has ever made modifications in the bathroom or kitchen will probably have the rest of the silicone in a tube at home, which can be applied to the designated location easily and precisely with the help of a special gun. In this case, the place of winter shoes, which nowadays often does not have a significantly treated sole in case of ice. Silicone is flexible, resistant to moisture and has the advantage that it can increase friction between sole and ice – that is, it simply prevents slipping.

Cleanliness is the foundation

Before we enter the silicone layer, it will be necessary to really clean, wash and allow to dry perfectly. You should also take the dishes to help, because any grease would thwart all your efforts and the silicone would not hold on the shoe. Once we have the shoes ready, we can start magic.

To the right places

Silicone should be applied to the sole in several places, especially where the shoe most often touches the ground. Such places are easy to find, they will be most worn. However, this does not mean that we should completely forget other parts of the soles, even these can touch the pads, for example, when walking up stairs and the like.

Allow the silicone to dry

Apply non -slip protection using a gun in several lines, ideally perpendicular. Thus, it will be ensured that the leg in such a shoe does not slip even when walking on uneven terrain. As soon as the silicone is in place, put the shoes up and let the material dry perfectly for at least 12 hours and adhere to the surface on which it should be maintained. After the time you can safely put your shoes and go for a test walk.

Try walking

Let us not forget that the important point of safety when moving on the icy surface is, among others, also its own certainty. A certain, but not a risky step, is much safer than cautious treading with cleared muscles on the feet.

Such an attitude does not bother anything other than that in the case of falling the body will not react as it should to be best protected. So, before the first longer trip, try at least on a frozen puddle before the first longer trip. It’s really worth it.

Return to normal is easy

What happens to this shoe when temperatures return above the freezing point? There is nothing easier than to tear off the protective silicone. Don’t worry, it will go without damaging the sole. So the next time it tightens again, go to the silicone and pistol workshop and take care of your safety.
