The proposal was submitted by representatives of the Czech Association of Breweries.
The Czech Republic included its beer culture on the national list of immaterial goods of traditional folk culture. According to the Ministry of Culture, this is a phenomenon and a tradition that generations of Czechs have been handing over from at least the mid -19th century. The registration was approved by the head of the department Martin Baxa, informs the TASR rapporteur in Prague.
“The culture of beer as a set of traditional knowledge, skills, customs and social events is undoubtedly a cultural-social phenomenon in the Czech Republic. Czech brewing has not only a rich tradition, but is also an important part of our cultural heritage, “Baxa said.
The ministry pointed out that beer culture is based in the Czech Republic based on professional and lay community, sharing and passing knowledge, experience, enthusiasm or identity. However, the most important aspect of the nomination is the social level. “Beer is part of most social events in both cities and rural areas … Beer culture transmits almost a whole social life in the Czech Republic, which was the main motivation of the petitioners of the proposal for its listing,” said the department.
In addition to the beer culture in the Czech Republic, the Hořice Passion Games and the production of blueprint forms were added to the list. There are already 36 items on this list. The resort noted that the entry in the national list is a basic condition for a possible nomination for a representative list of the immaterial cultural heritage of humanity (UNESCO). This is what Czech breweries would like to achieve in the future.
