The Greek authorities announced on Thursday that they had detained a Turkish citizen because they discovered dozens of firearms and ammunition on his engine boat. TASR informs about this on the basis of AP report.

The incident occurred on Tuesday. The Greek Coast Guard received a report on a motor boat sailing without control near Alexandrupoli near the Turkish border. Obviously, the man came sick and lost control of the vessel.

The police in the boat discovered and secured 61 firearms, including guns or automatic rifles, shock absorbers and almost 3,000 rounds, including high -quality (so -called military class). The boat itself also confiscated.

The detainee of the 55-year-old Turk was hospitalized, but he is guarded in the hospital by police. He is accused of illegal import, smuggling, transport and possession of weapons and ammunition with the intention of distributing for criminal purposes.
