(Reuters)-An American Airlines regional passenger jet and a US Army Black Hawk helicopter fell into the Potomac River cold after a flight near Reagan National Airport in Washington on Wednesday night (29).

UH-60 Black Hawk
The Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk is one of the most ubiquitous and iconic military helicopters, performing various functions for US Armed Forces, including air attack, overall support, medical removal, command and control and support for special operations.
The aircraft involved in the collision that occurred on Wednesday night was flying with the PAT25 call indicative and had three occupants, according to Aviation Safety Network, a public air accident database.
More than 5,000 Black Hawks have been manufactured since the beginning of production in the mid -1970s.

Bombardier CRJ700
Bombardier CRJ700, which can accommodate about 70 people, is a regional commercial aviation battle horse. There are about 260 of this type aircraft in service, according to Cirium, an aviation data company.
The plane involved in the collision with Black Hawk was recorded as N530EA and manufactured in 2010, according to the US Aviation Agency (FAA). There were 60 passengers and four crew on board, the American Airlines said. The jet was registered on behalf of the airline, but was operated by its full subsidiary, PSA Airlines.

Bombardier sold the CRJ700 to a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 2019. The production of new aircraft was interrupted by 2020.
