An 11-year-old child died on Thursday when he was mortally running over a truck on an avenue in the city of Albufeira, a source of the Algarve Regional Emergency and Civil Protection (CREPC) command told Lusa.
The rescue teams received the alert at 17:32 and, upon arrival at the scene, came across “a run over by a heavy goods”, which resulted in the death of the girl, of Brazilian nationality, the same source said.
The claim took place “in urban area, right inside Albufeira”, in one of the main avenues of the city, Avenida dos Discovimentos, situated.
The CDOS source pointed out that the child was still assisted, but the death was eventually declared, at the scene, by the doctor of the Emergency Medical and Resuscitation Medical vehicle (VMER) of the National Institute of Emergency Medical (INEM).
Providing assistance on site were 23 operational, including elements of the firefighters of Albufeira, INEM and nine vehicles.
