Prosecutor Neide Cardoso de Oliveira stressed that the companies mentioned in campaign accounts did not have the necessary capacity to provide the contracted services. She argued that both Claudio Castro and Thiago Pampolha benefited from spending that would be considered illicit.
On the other hand, Claudio Castro’s lawyer, Eduardo Damian, refuted the allegations of irregularities. He argued that there was no illegal collection and that all campaign spending was duly registered and justified. Damian asked the Court to consider the request for cassation as unfounded, emphasizing the transparency in the campaign accounts.
