The Ministry of Health announced on Thursday (30.jan.2025) an increase in dengue cases during this week in the state of São Paulo. According to data from the Arbovirus monitoring panel, the cases rose from 82 thousand to 99 thousand in the state and the deaths from 14 to 28 in the 3 -day period.

Throughout the country, the estimate of probable cases jumped from 139 thousand to 169 thousand cases. The deaths increased from 21 to 37 deaths in 3 days.

The deaths under investigation in Brazil were 160 on Monday (27.jan.2025). On Thursday, the number went to 200, 138 of them in São Paulo.

The Ministry of Health has attributed the increase in cases to the circulation of dengue serotype 3, which has been expanding since July last year. “According to SVSA Deputy Secretary, this virus variant has been decisive in increasing the number of infections, especially in São Paulo and, to a lesser extent, in Paraná.” He explained, in a note.

State data

The monitoring carried out by the São Paulo State Department of Health indicates 102,000 probable cases, with 45,000 of them already confirmed. The folder confirms 21 deaths, 11 of them from people over 65.

In the state there are already 44 municipalities that decreed a state of emergency. On Monday was 37. The increase shows a greater engagement of the municipalities that work in conjunction with federal and state governments.
