Αεροπορική τραγωδία στην Ουάσιγκτον: Η σύγκρουση θα μπορούσε να αποφευχθεί

Uganda authorities confirmed the exacerbation of the virus in the capital Kampala with the first confirmed patient dying from the virus yesterday Wednesday, the Ministry of Health said today.

This is the ninth outbreak of the virus in that country of East Africa since the first infection of the viral disease was recorded in 2000.

The patient, a nurse at the Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala, had initially searching for treatment in various medical centers, including Mulago Hospital, as well as a traditional therapist, after having feverish symptoms.

“The patient presented polyorganic failure and succumbed to the disease at the Mulago National Referral Hospital on January 29th. Little samples confirmed that he had been infected by the Ebola executive meeting in Sudan, “the ministry said in a statement.

Forty -four deceased contacts have been recorded in tracing to identify people who may have been infected with the virus, including 30 health workers, the ministry said.

However, trace of contacts can prove to be difficult as Kabbalah is a crowded city with more than 4 million inhabitants and a crossroads of traffic to southern Sudan, Congo, Rwanda and other countries.

The extremely infectious hemorrhagic fever is transmitted through contact with infected body fluids and tissues. Symptoms include headache, blood, muscle aches and bleeding.

Uganda authorities have experience and abilities in treating the virus, after so many years of epidemics, such as laboratory tests, patient care expertise, contacts and other skills to control the recent Ebola cases in a relatively short period of time.

55 dead from the last rise

Uganda last recorded the disease for the last time in late 2022 and the epidemic was declared end on January 11, 2023 after nearly four months in which it struggled to limit the viral infection.

In the last epidemic, 55 of the 143 people infected and the dead included six health workers.

Ebola vaccination for all the deceased’s contacts will begin immediately, the ministry said. There is currently no approved vaccine for the Embola executive found in Sudan, although Uganda has received certain trial doses of vaccine during the previous rise of the disease.

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced in mid -January that a possible epidemic of the Marburg in neighboring Tanzania has claimed eight people’s lives, stressing that the risk of spreading it in the country and in the region is “high”.

Uganda also borders Rwanda, who just meets a rise of Marburg, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, where Ebola cases are often recorded.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICCs) warned this week of the dangers of viral spread, including Ebola, from a laboratory in Goma, due to the fierce battles raging in this large city in the eastern part of the LD Congo.
