Fuel prices will come back next Monday, marking the second reduction since the early 2025. This descent emerges after a significant climb earlier this year, followed by a drop recorded last week. According to a source of one of the national brand’s own brand gasolineiras, quoted by the Executive Digest“This week’s trend will be for a downward of 0.0208 euros in diesel and 0.0075 euros in gasoline 95.” In the main national supply networks, the fall should be more pronounced, with the diesel to devalue up to 2.5 cents per liter and the gasoline 95 to lower up to one cent, according to another source of the sector.
Currently, data from the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG) indicate that the average price of the liter of gasoline 95 in Portugal is 1.769 euros, while diesel is 1,665 euros per liter. However, values may vary depending on the supply post, as prices are influenced by factors such as local competition, supply and demand in each area and the operating costs of each service station.
The expected descent may represent a relief for consumers, especially after a year marked by successive increases. Since January, the price of gasoline 95 has risen from 1,722 euros to 1,769 euros per liter, while diesel went from 1.609 euros to 1,665 euros per liter. In practice, this meant an increase of 3.36 euros for a 60 liters deposit of diesel and 2.82 euros for the same volume of gasoline. With the reduction now announced, this charge will begin to be mitigated.

In Portugal, the fuel load on fuel is one of the highest in Europe, which contributes to prices higher than the community average.
According to the latest European Commission newsletter, the price of 95 gasoline in Portugal is currently 6.2 cents more expensive than the European average and 19.07 cents higher than that practiced in Spain. These values put the country in 8th place among the most expensive member states. In the case of diesel, Portugal occupies the 9th position, with a differential of 16.03 cents in relation to the neighboring country.
The new descent of prices may signal a stabilization trend, but market evolution will continue to depend on external factors such as oil price and political fuel taxation decisions. For consumers, each variation has a direct impact on the family budget, making the monitoring of these changes essential to manage the mobility costs in everyday life.
