Finance Minister Fernando Haddad said President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is aware that, often “changes of routes” in the government may be necessary. Haddad also said that the government is providing for a reduction in the economy’s growth level from 3.5% to 2.5%.
The minister also stated that the expectation of the economic team is to accommodate food prices in 2025, from two scenarios: positive expectation for the crop in the year and lower dollar compared to the current forecast of financial market agents.

Haddad also said that Selic is on a “level that slows the economy” and considered that care must be taken so that the “excess medicine” against inflation is not counterproductive. For him, even so, there is room for growth 2.5% this year, accompanied by the reduction of inflation.
“If you already have very restrictive Selic, excessive medicine can be counterproductive,” said the minister. He stressed that the government seeks “sustainable growth bringing inflation into the goal.”
