Work, a brand dedicated to the trade and remodeling materials, will open its first warehouse in Portugal at the end of the first quarter of 2025. The unit will be located in Carnaxide, in the Alfragide commercial zone, and will represent an investment of 40 million euros.
The store, which will be the largest in the group so far, will occupy a total area of over 10,000 square meters, of which 6,100 square meters will be destined for interior sale and 3,800 square meters for outdoor sale. The space will also feature a 7,000 square meter logistics center.
The expansion of the Portuguese market to the Portuguese market is part of the growth strategy of the Adeo group, owner of Leroy Merlin. The company intends to consolidate its position in the Iberian Peninsula and strengthen the distribution of construction and remodeling materials. The project also includes the creation of 150 jobs and establishes partnerships with 65 local suppliers.
Bet on industry dynamization
Luís Filipe, director of the warehouse, quoted by, underlines the economic and social impact of the new unit.
“From employees, who have shown exceptional enthusiasm to our local suppliers, we are building a project that will significantly contribute to the development of the region and the success of our customers.”
The store will provide a portfolio of 20,000 references, organized in nine sections that cover building materials, tools, toilets and ceramics. The space will also feature 450 parking spaces, a drive-in zone for heavy materials and self-checkouts.
The company also plans to launch, in the short term, a professional academy designed to the formation of new workers in the construction sector, encouraging self -unemployment and professional qualification.
