A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of having sexually abused a child with whom he cohabited in the city of Portimão, in the district of Faro, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said. The investigation started after a complaint “occurred scarce days”.
In a statement, the PJ states that sexual abuse began in 2019 and “were repeatedly practiced” over five years in the suspect’s housing.
According to police, the man “used his ascendant over the 11-year-old victim, given his family relationship, subjecting her to relief sexual acts on occasions when they were alone.”
The investigation developed by the Department of Criminal Investigation of the Portimão PJ, began after a complaint “occurred scarce days”, and relevant evidence was collected that resulted in the arrest of the suspect, read in the note.
The detainee, indicted for several crimes of sexual abuse, will be present to the judicial authorities to be heard in the first judicial interrogation and for the application of any coercion measures, concludes.
