Vienna – The Kronen Zeitung and OE24 Have violated the code of honor for the Austrian press with articles about the death of a 14-year-old in Vienna. Specifically, the tabloid media violated the presumption of innocence, as the Senate 2 of the press council stated in a decision. The complaint refers to the articles published in March of the previous year “Cruel find in Vienna: Girls (14) dead” (krone.at), “Abuse thriller: child dead” (Kronen Zeitung), “After the death of girls: ‘heard cunning laughter'” (krone.at) and “14-year-old girl found dead in Simmering” (oe24.at). It reports that a 14-year-old had visited a 26-year-old asylum seeker, there was sexual intercourse and the young people then died of a drug overdose.
