Militants have started an internal campaign to prevent the party from being based or incorporated into another subtitle, thus losing its identity. The movement began with affiliates in the city of São Paulo, but began to be replicated elsewhere in the country.
On Monday (27), the group wrote a manifesto asking that the caption be rebuilt instead of extinct.
“Fusion or incorporation is the suicide of our ideals and purposes before the nation. It is not so much that the PSDB exists, after so many struggles supported by its founders,” says the document, which cites toucan icons such as former Paulistas Franco Montoro governors and Mário Covas, former President Fernando Henrique Cardoso, former governor of Ceará Tasso Jereissati and former ministers José Serra and Sergio Motta.
The PSDB discusses its future on several fronts and promises to make a decision by April at most. , what in practice would mean the end of the subtitle, created in 1988. Another possibility is a federation with the Somos.
The party has had successive electoral defeats in recent years and shrunk in number of mayors, deputies and senators.
The manifesto says that to raise the caption, it is necessary to have good candidates in 2026 and a good speech about the development of the country.
