The insurgents from the M23 Movement want to march to the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The United Nations said on Friday that 700 people have died from the fighting around Goma in the East Democratic Republic of the Congo Democratic Republic (DRC). The city conquered the insurgents from the March 23 (m23) supported by neighboring Rwanda. TASR reports according to AFP.

“The World Health Organization (WHO) and its partners, together with the government from Sunday to Thursday, were rated,” said UN Secretary -General spokesman Stéphane Dujarric, according to which the number of victims is likely to increase. The UN also registers 2800 injured.

M23 after intensive struggles earlier this week, Goma, the capital of the Northern Kivu Province, conquered more than two million inhabitants before the conflict. The rebels promised to march to the capital KDR Kinshasa. In recent days, M23 advanced to the south of the country along the banks of Lake Kivu towards Bukava, the capital of the province of South Kiwa. AFP said the movement is able to recruit a number of young men who are joining the fighting.

The KDR blames Rwanda of the support of the M23, which is mainly composed of the ethnic group of Tutsi, one of the two main Rwandan ethnic groups. The KDR claims that Rwanda wants to profit from mineral resources in the country. M23 in combat operations is reportedly directly supported by Rwandan soldiers.

Many Western countries, China and peace intermediary Angola called on Rwanda to withdraw their forces from the KDR. Belgium called on the European Union to consider sanctions, while Britain said it was considering a reassessment of the provision of Rwanda aid. The conflict also raised tensions between Rwanda President Paul Kagame and South African leader Cyril Ramaphos, as 13 South African soldiers died in the east of the KDR.
