The mayor of kyiv, Vladimir Klichkó, has accused the new head of the Military Administration of the city of kyiv (KCMA), Tymur Tkachenko, to try to snatch competencies and hinder key decisions for the management of the capital in times of war. Such as the restoration of the buildings damaged by the Russian bombings, the compensation of the affected citizens or the repair of the infrastructure, as denounced in a message addressed to President Zelensky and that he collects .
“While you, as commander in chief, are focused on war and the defense of Ukraine, around you there are those who plot political maneuvers. And these are already critical,” said the mayor of kyiv, questioning the suitability of Tymur Tkachenko for the position he occupies now, stressing that he lacks the formation or military experience to be head of the KCMA. According to the Ukrainian mayor, this lack of preparation has caused a crisis in the management of the city and endangers kyiv’s essential services, when the body directed by Tkachenko is temporary and their work should not interfere with the autonomy of the local government.
“They are not reinforcing the defense, they are blocking self -government to concentrate power,” said Klichkó, warning of the consequences of this confrontation within the government structure of the capital.
The crisis has worsened since Zelenski dismissed Serhiy Popko as head of the KCMA and appointed Tkachenko in his place on December 31. Before assuming the position, Tkachenko held positions of responsibility in the Urban Improvements Department of kyiv, the Ministry of Strategic Industries and the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.
