First woman to occupy the position of Vice-President of COB (Olympic Committee of Brazil), Yane Marques, former modern pentathlo athlete, will also be the head of the Brazilian delegation mission during the Los Angeles-2028 Olympic Games.
The announcement was made on Thursday (30) during an event at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Golf Club, in which the new president of the entity, Marco Antônio La Porta and his board spoke to athletes, former athletes, members of entities sports and sponsors.
La Porta and Yane were elected in October last year as a plate of opposition to Paulo Wanderley, who sought reelection.
In his speech, Yane promised to “put medals on the chest of many people” in the upcoming events that the Brazil team will face, such as the South American, Pan American Games, as well as the Olympics.
“We have a great thing and let’s put medals on the chest of many people. Even without medals, we will turn many lives. We have a long and beautiful story to live together,” he added.
Bronze medal at the London Games, the Pernambuco said that being chosen to occupy the vice presidency of the committee is a milestone for women.
“Once again, we write a line in the Brazilian Olympic Sport Book. For the first time in the history of COB, we will have a vice president. Now the door is open. There has to come a lot of women with me. Of all enthusiasm and courage, I have a foot with the floor because it is a great responsibility, “said Yane.
At the end of the event, COB also presented its new logo, highlighting the Brazilian flag and the Olympic rings again.
