Location in the cadastre of Fačkov, where on Saturday afternoon the bear attacked a 38-year-old man and caused him numerous biting injuries, monitors the intervention team for the bear of brown state nature conservation (ŠOP) SR. At the same time, the CEO of ŠOP SR Roman Fajth called on the management of the District Office in Žilina to consider the declaration of an emergency situation. TASR informed the Department of Communication and Promotion of the SOP SR.
“The site is monitored by the intervention team for the brown ŠOP SR bear and in the case of confirmation of unnatural behavior of an individual, such as loss of shyness, this individual will be eliminated“said Fajth.
According to the Director General of the ŠOP SR, there was no extraordinary situation in the area. This is one of the reasons why he contacted the head of the District Office in Žilina and called for cooperation in the framework of the further procedure of convening the crisis staff or the statement of the emergency situation. “This would accelerate the shooting of bears that would occur in a different environment as it happens in other locations in Slovakia,” said ŠOP SR.
At the same time, state conservationists have called on tourists and mountain visitors these days to caution, as the risk of collision with this beast increases in warm weather.
The bear attacked a 38-year-old man on Saturday afternoon in hard-to-reach terrain in Fačkov. The injured man himself was able to call for help, and air rescuers with numerous biting injuries of the lower limbs, upper limb and a laceration on his neck were taken in a stabilized state to the hospital in Žilina.
