Senate presidential candidate, (Union-AP) said on Saturday (1) that, elected, will act to reverse the understanding of the table, under the leadership of (PP-AL), which in practice imposed defeats on the preference of projects originating from the Senate.
“I make a commitment to act to reverse understanding of the Chamber table to just appeal to our Senate projects to the House’s initial projects so that the initiative there is invited by the senators,” said Alcolumbre da Tax to colleagues who gather to choose today the next president of the Senate.
The senator argued that acts of the Congress tables, either from the House or Senate, cannot overlap with the Constitution, the Common Rules and Decades of Tradition. “The matter already approved in a house, and so with more advanced processing, has to be a priority compared to other internal projects not yet appreciated,” he said.
Alcolumbre also cited the processing of provisional measures, another point of friction during the Presidencies of Senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) and Lira. He argued that suppressing the mixed commissions of the MP appreciation process is to reduce the role of the Federal Senate.
“The legislative process of provisional measures also needs to be resumed urgently, mixed committees are mandatory by constitutional mandate. Suppressing them or neglected is not only wrong from the point of view of the process, it is a reduction in the role of the Federal Senate. That’s why I’m here supported by my peers and I make myself available to build consensus, ”he said.
In the speech before the vote, Alcolumbre said he also made “inappropriate commitment” to democracy. “Let’s resist populist shortcuts, none of the different political currents is pure angel or demon. Let us avoid the labels of easy discourse, distortion of debates on social networks and malicious simplifications, ”he said.
