Reasons are discharged from ICMS (Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services) and Petrobras readjustment
Prices of gasoline and diesel rose throughout Brazil from this Saturday (1st.FEV.2025). The reasons are 1) the elevation of the ICMS (Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services) on these fuels and 2) The readjustment of Petrobras.
The readjustments were determined in October 2024 by the (National Council of Treasury Policy), which brings together Finance Secretaries of the 27 States and the Federal District. Here are the decisions (PDF – 227 kb).
The rate will be raised as follows:
- Gasoline – increase of R $ 0.10 per liter of gasoline, going to R $ 1.47;
- diesel – Increase from R $ 0.06 per liter, to R $ 1.12.

This was the 1st revision in the molds Dthe complementary law that instituted a fixed rate for fuels in. Earlier, each state calculated the ICMS based on the average price of the previous 3 months.
