Minister announces a plan of 60 auctions with $ 20 billion in investments, in a video showing new language of Secom
The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) received the minister of ports and airports, Sílvio Costa Filho (Republican), this Friday (31.jan.2025), to treat DStrategic goals for the next two years, when the federal government plans to invest $ 20 billion in the port sector, which discloses being the largest investment in history.
Costa Filho stressed that the port sector became one of the main priorities for the economic advance of Brazil. According to him, the investments exceeded R $ 20.65 billion in the last two years. “The forecast is that, by the end of President Lula’s term, private investments exceed $ 50 billion, reinforcing our commitment to the modernization of infrastructure and the sustainable growth of the country,” said the minister.
Between 2013 and 2022, Brazil held 43 port auctions, resulting in a total of R $ 6 billion in investments.
Last year, 8 port areas were granted in three different regions of the country, especially the lease of the terminal in the port of Itaguaí, Rio de Janeiro, which had an investment value of over R $ 3.5 billion, the largest amount already registered in the area.
For 2025, the Ministry of Ports and Airports plans the concession of 21 port projects in four regions of Brazil, with a total of almost R $ 9 billion in investments for the bid areas.
