Rui Rocha refused that this internal election is a “Walk in the park”considering that “it is very good” that the party has “dissonant and critical voices”.
IL President Rui Rocha, who reappointed to the position, said this Saturday confident that he will have a clarifying result at the party’s national convention and declined that there is internal disunity.
“I hope it is a huge IL party, with debate, assertiveness, intense moments, but a moment of the party’s energy affirmation, and obviously in internal clarification we also reinforce the struggle we have for the future of the country,” said Rui Rocha in Declarations to journalists upon arrival at the Peace and Friendship Pavilion in Loures, where the IX National Convention of IL runs.
Rui Rocha refused that this internal election is a “Walk in the park”considering that “it is very good” that the party has “dissonant and critical voices”.
“It is, democratically, to debate ideas, and I convince that the List L, which header, will have a clarifying vote in this convention,” he said.
Asked if it is available to meet with Rui Malheiro, his opponent in the internal dispute for the leadership on Monday, in order to unite the party, Rui Rocha replied: “The debate is always important and obviously good ideas are always enjoyable.”
“But I believe this idea that IL has some kind of disunity will also be clarified with this convention. The debate is very important, it will be -this means that there are different views -but in the end, I am absolutely convinced That IL will give proof of strength to the country, “he said.
Rui Rocha arrived at the Peace and Friendship Pavilion accompanied by the parliamentary leader of IL, Mariana Leitão, who proposes to the party’s vice presidency. Asked if IL’s next presidential presidential candidate was near him, after saying he will announce him this Sunday if he is reelected, Rui Rocha replied: “I have all the members close to me.”
“Therefore, yes, the presidential candidate will be nearby”He said, between laughs, in a statement in which he was also asked if he admits to lunch with the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, after they did it in 2023, and then discussed the constitution of a possible right-wing government.
“I am not opposed to lunch if I go with companies with which I have at least one respect relationship, although we have obviously and this has been evident over the last few years, a political divergence that is well tied,” he replied.
