Fire vacancy started on January 7
The large fires that devastated Los Angeles, California, United States, were given as “100% controlled” on Friday after three weeks, the California Forest and Fire Department (Cal Fire) said today.
The forest of Palisades, considered the most violent, devastated almost 9,500 hectares, while Eaton’s, which affected the city of Pasadena, reduced almost 5,700 hectares and both appear today with the “100 % contained” label.
The fires, which began on January 7 and forced the territories of over 150,000 people, caused at least 29 dead, destroyed more than 16,000 structures and will be in the history of the United States as one of the most expensive natural catastrophes.
Authorities continue to investigate the causes of those fires, at a time when 14 people are still missing, according to local media.
Last weekend, the first major storm in the region brought heavy rains that helped erase those fires, already considered historical.
