Contrary to most of the municipalities of the Algarve, the Chamber of Silves disagrees with the new soil law, does not believe that it will increase the supply of housing and even considers that it will generate more real estate speculation. The only CDU authority in the region also says that misinformation is creating false expectations for citizens.
Although some adjustments are expected, the door is open so that the municipalities can approve subdivisions in rustic soils the new rules came into force on Wednesday and were based on the idea of increasing housing supply.
In the Algarve, the Chamber of Silves spares no criticism and fears real estate speculation. Also the Environmental Association Almargem disagrees with the change to the legal regime of territorial management instruments.
In areas such as the Algarve, particularly with the coast, the change of rules may be harmful. The intercity community of the Algarve says that there is a way to wage speculation in the passage of rustic to urbanizable land.
The municipality of Silves also complains about misinformation around the new law. He says that many individuals have created false expectations and argues that before moving in rustic soils the urban ones they are yet to be exhausted.
Other municipalities disagree. The Algarve Intermunicipal Community itself considers that the change to the law could go further and review the agricultural classification because there are municipalities, such as Tavira, strangled, with no growth option.
