Nauana Silva also competed in the category up to 63kg and entered directly on the round of 16. Its debut was marked by a difficult confrontation against Japanese Megu Danno, who got a 20 second immobilization, resulting in an IPPon and eliminating the Brazilian. In men, Vinicius Ardina (-73kg) started his campaign with an IPPon victory over the American Jack Yonezuka. Despite the good start, he failed to move forward, being defeated by South Korean Donghyun Bae, who secured the victory with a Waza-ai followed by IPPon.

The competition follows this Sunday, with four Brazilians in search of podiums: Gabriel Falcão and Luan Almeida in the category up to 81kg, Rafael Macedo (-90kg) and Leonardo Gonçalves (-100kg). The preliminaries are scheduled to start at 6:30 am (Brasília time), with disputes for medals scheduled for 13h.
