What do we know about the next hostage exchange?
Israel expects Hamas to deliver on the afternoon of this Friday the list of the next hostages to be delivered in the exchange planned for Saturday, the fourth from the beginning of high the fire in the strip, on January 19. The Israeli press points out that the three kidnapped are men and among them is the American-Israeli citizen, Keith Siegel, 65.
Siegel was kidnapped with his wife at Kfar Aza Kibutz. His wife, Aviva, was released in November 2023, during the first high the fire reached in the strip, which lasted just a week.
So far, Hamas and Israel have starred in three hostage exchanges for Palestinian prisoners. The first took place on the first day of Alto El Fuego, when they were released: the British-Israelí Emily Damari (28 years old), Romi Gonen (24 years) and Doron Steinbrecher (31 years). In the second, on January 24, they returned to Israel kidnapped by the Islamist movement during the Matanza on October 7, 2023: Naama Levy (20 years), Daniella Gilboa (20 years), Karina Ariev (20 years) and Liri Albag (19 years). The last exchange, the greatest release for what the truce goes, took place yesterday Thursday, when Hamas delivered three Israeli hostages – the Military Agam Berger, 20 years old; Arbel Yehud, 29; and Gadi Moshe, 80 – and five Thai workers, not initially scheduled in the high -fire agreement.
In return, Israel has released more than 300 Palestinian prisoners so far. It is estimated that in the first phase of Alto El Fuego, they are released around 2,000 detainees in Israeli prisons, which do not include Militiamen de Hamás who participated in the attacks on October 7.
In the enclave there are 87 captive – four of them have been kidnapped years – of the 251 hostages kidnapped on October 7, 2023. In the first phase of the agreement, Hamas plans to deliver 33 hostages, of which 8 are confirmed as dead, although although His identity has not been revealed. In this list, two children aged 2 and 5 and their parents also appear, as well as three men over 80 years.
In the second phase of the truce, as agreed, the rest of the living hostages will be released – which includes men and men under 50 – and finally, the delivery of the bodies of the hostages is planned dead.
Of the 251 hostages kidnapped 15 months ago, 117 have come alive – only 8 of them in military operations – and 38 bodies have been recovered by the Israeli army.
