White House confirms 10% tariff to China from February

Spokesman says that 10% fee will be applied in response to the “illegal fentanil” that the Asian country has provided to the US

White House Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Friday (31.jan.2025) that the United States will start applying a 10% rate on China imports from Saturday (1st.FEV). During the campaign, President Donald Trump (Republican) promised to tax by 60%, but retreated.

The spokesman said the measure will be taken in response to the “Fentanil Ilegal” that the Asian country provided and allowed it to be distributed in the United States. According to her, that was “Something that killed dozens of millions of Americans”.

Leavitt also confirmed the application of the 25% rate on products from Mexico and Canada. The measurement (1st.FEV).

Asked about the possibility of the Trump administration postponing the charging of tariffs to North America neighbors until March 1, Leavitt claimed to be false.
