Tavira’s commander said Friday in court that the young man accused of killing his father stabbed in a village in the county had acted unintentionally and desperately, stressing that it cost him to keep him in the cell.
In the third session of the trial, which this Friday took place at the Faro Court, Ricardo Sousa said he considered that Maurício Cavaco “would not intend” to kill his father and that he did so “by despair”, after “supported the situation [alegado contexto de violência domestica] Over the years ”.
A cousin, friends and people from the accused-linked community reinforced in court that he was forced to work for his father, and subject to heavy efforts from 12 to 13, daily and often until after midnight.
Maurício Cavaco, accused of killing his father to stabbed in a village of Tavira, allegedly defending his mother of a situation of domestic violence, is being tried by a jury court in Faro.
The crime occurred in December 2023 at the Family House, in the village of Várzea do Vinagre, in the parish of Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo, in the district of Faro, when the 19 -year -old, allegedly intervened in defense of his mother , killing the 63 -year -old father.
Sergeant Ricardo Sousa, who was at the crime scene, said he found the young “disorder” and “hurt” at the time, and that he seemed to him that he was “not aware of what had happened.”
The military also added that, contrary to what happens to other detainees, it cost him to “keep him in the cell”, a feeling he had never had in two decades of service, attributing him to the way the defendant spoke to him, to what he heard about the case and its own professional traquejo.
Heard by video conferencing, the accused’s cousin and godmother said that her uncle’s way of being was that of a person “with interior education, authoritarian”, and that the mortal victim exercised “psychological violence” about her son and insulted Mauritius and the Wife, but stressed that he had never assisted aggressions in the common family times.
The family member also said that the uncle was “very demanding” to her son, who after school hours, often until midnight, had to perform tasks linked to the maintenance of the hill where they lived and that, since its 12, 13 years old, he saw him to carry heavy coal bags.
The 10 witnesses heard at Friday’s session, among friends and people linked to the young man’s personal route, such as a catechist, the school’s director and the Boy Scout chief, reinforced the youngest and fearful personality of the young man and pointed out that this was “Thanks to work” for the father.
Mauricio’s boss since 2023 and family neighbor recalled the deadly victim as an “aggressive and conflicting” person, and argued that, in the locality where they lived, everyone was afraid of him.
At the first session of the trial, on January 9, Maurício Cavaco took over the crime, having been himself to call the national emergency number, but said he did not remember the moment when he struck the first scam and the rest, at a time in that the mother had already abandoned the house to ask the neighbors for help.
The young man reported that he had never thought of killing his father, describing him as a violent person and telling that, at least in the last 10 years, he and his mother have been the target of constant offenses, humiliations and threats on the part of the man, who threatened Even the woman of death.
The young man is under house arrest at an aunt’s house, after spending a few months in prison waiting for the procedures for the placement of an electronic bracelet.
Several hundred people signed a request for release from the young man, claiming that he was a victim of abuse and that he is not a danger to society.
Jury courts are only possible for cases where the maximum penalty of crimes in question is more than eight years in prison, being dedicated to the so -called “blood crimes”.
