For almost a month, the security forces of Puntland, the autonomous region in Somalia’s nordete, have advanced on Islamic State hiding places in the region, with the most intense confrontations occurring recently in Classaale, a strategic place. Despite the casualties on both sides, Puntland’s forces have achieved substantial advances, capturing several important locations.

On Saturday (1st), US President Donald Trump said. The Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, said the attacks were performed in the Golis mountains and that no civilian was injured.

Reuters could not independently check these details.

An employee of Somalia’s president, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the attacks and said the Somalian government welcomed the measure. The United States has periodically conducted air strikes in Somalia for years, both under republican and democratic administrations.
