Christopher Adam Bumtead, also known as “Chris Bumtead” or just “Cbum”, turned 30 years old last Sunday (2).
Recently retired from bodybuilding, the Canadian athlete and entrepreneur has an unusual lifestyle for someone like that. Therefore, the Blog Muscle decided to list six curiosities about the sixth champion of Olympia in the Classic Physique category.
Brother -in -law
Married to Bumtead’s sister Melissa, former Open Iain Valliere category, who saw the potential of his brother-in-law, who until then was just a young bodybuilder. Until 2022, it was Valliere who took care of the preparation of Cbum.
It didn’t start at Classic
Despite having his success in bodybuilding within the Classic Physique category, the Canadian began his career as a bodybuilder. It was only after winning his professional card that Cbum decided to migrate to the division he helped popularize.
Anime fan
On several occasions, the former athlete admitted to liking anime. In an interview with Podcast Flow, he said he has watched the classics Naruto and Bleach, as well as latest works such as Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer.

Another taste of the former physiculturist who surprised his fans occurs in the song. In videos from his personal YouTube channel, Cbum has already declared himself a fan of Taylor Swift and confirmed that he listens to the singer’s songs while training.
Kidney disease
BumStead suffers from immunoglobin A nephropathy, a chronic and autoimmune disease that affects the kidneys. The problem causes the body to accumulate the antibody IGA in this organ, which overwhelms it and makes it difficult to eliminate waste.
Early career
Bodybuilding is not like football, where young people still underage, often already make up large team casts. For comparison, Phil Heath, considered one of the greatest phenomena in sports history, won his first title in Olympia at 31. BumStead, in turn, was already a 22-year-old runner-up and became champion with only 24.
Cbum is married and has a daughter with Courtney King, who beat Olympia in the Bikini category in 2016.
