Senate President David Alcolumbre chair session of the congressional activities start
The National Congress will begin the legislative work of the year with the opening of the 3rd Legislative Session of the 57th Legislature, this Monday (3.FEV.2025). The ceremony takes place at the Plenary of the Chamber of Deputies, in Brasilia, and has live broadcast.
The moment will be chaired by (Union-AP), president elected by the Senate on Saturday (1st.FEV).

PROTOCOL
Prior to the solemn session, a traditional external ceremony gathers the presidents of the Senate and the House of Representatives. This act has the presence of troops from the Armed Forces, the execution of the national anthem and a salting of 21 cannon shots through the Army’s Cayena battery. The presidents held the troop inspection, a historical ritual of verification of the readiness of the military.
After the formal reception by the table secretaries of the table and directors general of the two houses, the presidents go to the Black Hall. There, they will be greeted by representatives of the Executive Branch, including the president of (Supreme Federal Court), Luís Roberto Barroso, and party leaders.
The President of the Republic, (PT), is expected to also give a speech. However, your presence is optional. In case of absence, the moment intended for the executive branch is conducted chief minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa.
