The Union has filed a public civil action to demand that the government of being prevented from propagating, especially by the governor’s social networks (MDB), news that the agency evaluates are false about.

Those in protest against a law that, they argue, could pave the way to implement distance education in the villages.

The action also wants the (National Foundation of Indigenous Peoples) to adopt steps to hold state agents “who are conducting hatred and misinformation campaign in relation to indigenous communities” and asks the owner of Facebook and Instagram to withdraw publications. ” known false “posted by Barbalho.

In addition, DPU demands compensation for collective moral damages of R $ 10 million, which would be reversed to indigenous communities that are occupying the Education Secretariat.

The action is based on a video released on the social networks of Barbalho on which the governor says it is “important to emphasize that the movement began from a misinformation, that we would be ending the system of face -to -face education in indigenous villages, which would change to a Distance education system. Something that has never existed and will never exist.

The DPU, however, cites response from the Secretary of Education of Pará, to a procedure of the Federal Public Prosecution Service in which he indicates that there would be implementation by the CEMEP (Media Center) of Distance Education for the indigenous community.

According to the Defender’s Office, from this information “it remains noted that the speech of the Hon. Governor (…) is a liar, and seeks to create a narrative, in which the indigenous people were fooled to be fighting for other interests.”

The Defender’s Office also disputes an excerpt in which the governor says that 100% of the demands of indigenous communities were met. According to the agency, the statement would be “fallacious, because the indigenous communities protesting in Seduc have as main agendas the revocation of Law No. 10.820/24 and the resignation of the Secretary of Education.”

Sought, the goal said it would not comment on the action. The Government of Pará reported that it was not notified of the public civil action. The panel came to Funai to speak out, but got no response.
