Ten years after the creation of Petrobras’ Board of Governance and Conformity-born amid Lava-Jato corruption-its current director, Mario Spinelli, defends in an interview with CNN that investors “recognize the evolution” of the state in this front.

“Our investors recognize the evolution we had in terms of governance and integrity system.”

For Spinelli, among the company’s main governance actions since then are: the creation of a procedure for assessing supplier integrity (Due Diligence of integrity) and an independent channel to receive complaints.

By the end of 2024, the state -owned company had made about 35,000 assets and service suppliers’ integrity assessments in order to reduce risks in these relationships.

As a result of governance actions, Petrobras has become the public sector company that applies more sanctions in the anti -corruption law.

The volume of fines given by Petrobras based on the anti -corruption law exceeds $ 250 million. Penalties were applied to over 135 companies.

The director admits that – as well as adopting integrity actions – it is necessary to convince the investor about this security.

In an attempt to circumvent this issue, the company inserted changes related to governance in the company’s norms, and even in its statute.

“The creation of the Governance Board that has just turned 10 is a milestone in the company’s recent history. The board gave us conditions to improve our controls and have the possibility of detecting deviations in the company’s business driving, ”adds Spinelli.
