The Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilhasaid on Monday (3) that the government will work to approve this year the Reform of Income Tax and the exemption of Income Tax (IR) for workers who receive up to $ 5,000 per month, with the purpose that the measures come into force next year.
Income tax reform is being detailed by the Ministry of Finance and does not have a date to be presented to Congress, as it is necessary to close a compensatory measure, Padilha added after meeting with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and government leaders in Congress.
The minister also said, in an interview with journalists at the Planalto Palace, that Lula will meet with presidents and leaders of parties and ministers to discuss the government and the next two years of office.
According to Padilha, the government intends to present until next week a list of priority proposals to the government this year. “We want to present the priority bills next week for the next two years. In the economic area alone there are 32 projects approved in the last two years. It is expected to present this agenda next week for the next two years, ”he said.
In addition to the exemption of IR for those who earn up to R $ 5,000, other priority projects include facing climate change and combating digital crimes.
“Today we have crimes in the digital environment and we have to protect society from these crimes,” he said, indicating support for a proposal for regulating social networking platforms.
