The return to classes to about 3 million in public schools in the state of brand the beginning of a new educational age with the implementation of the ban on the use of educational institutions. This decision, determined by, aims to limit the use of mobile devices within classrooms, during intervals and extracurricular activities. The new law, sanctioned in January by President Lula, allows the use of cell phones only in emergency cases, pedagogical activities under the guidance of teachers and for accessibility of students with disabilities.
To ensure compliance with the new standard, the São Paulo Secretariat of Education has released guidelines that guide teachers to communicate school management in case of non -compliance. Repeatures can lead to conversations with the management and, in more severe situations, to the triggering of the Guardianship Council or the protective network.
Pediatrician and sanitarist Daniel Becker warns that the problem does not reside in technology itself, but over use of mobile phone, which can undermine the learning and development of young people. He points out that early use of mobile devices can affect language acquisition, motor coordination and interpersonal skills.
Concern about the impact of excessive use of cell phones on education and student development is one of the main reasons for the implementation of this new policy. In addition to the prohibition of cell phones, other changes are planned for 2025, such as the increase in the duration of classes from 45 to 50 minutes, which will result in six daily classes for partial students.
