Rio de Janeiro dominates natural gas production in Brazil

The state of Rio de Janeiro maintains its leadership in natural gas production in Brazil, representing 74% of the national total. The document reveals that Fluminense production reached 113 million cubic meters per day, marking a 6% increase compared to the previous year.

Despite the growth in production, the country faces challenges in using natural gas, with the rate of national use falling to 33% and, in Rio de Janeiro, to 23%.

The underground gas reinjection practice, which aims to maintain reservoir pressure and optimize oil extraction, also registered an increase, reaching 54% of national production and exceeding 70 million cubic meters per day in the state.

The study also points out a 46% growth in proven natural gas reserves in Brazil, with Rio de Janeiro housing 72% of these reserves.
