Shein articles and stared to Europe: it is possible that the waiting time will increase

The European Union has announced that it will reinforce customs checks to products sold by e -commerce retailers such as Temu and Shein. The decision, which will be made official by the European Commission on February 5, intends to ensure fair competition and ensure that the products marketed comply with the safety rules established in the European bloc.

According to the commission, news A, the new regulation will affect all retailers outside the EU, but attention will be mainly focused on Chinese fast-fashion companies, such as Temu and Shein, which have grown rapidly in recent years. One of the factors that has driven this growth is the tax exemption applied to low -value orders, less than 150 euros, allowing them to practice more competitive prices compared to European competitors.

The European Commission stressed that 91% of low value shipments come from China. By 2024, the European Union received 4.6 billion of this category, a significant increase over the previous year. The new measure will focus on products that have safety risks or not in accordance with EU legislation, seeking to minimize the entry of potentially dangerous or falsified goods into the European market.

The most rigorous inspection can result in longer delivery times for consumers who make purchases on platforms such as Temu and Shein. With increasing customs verification, it is likely that there are delays in order processing, directly impacting customers’ waiting time.

In addition to the reinforcement of inspections, the European Commission has signaled that it could review tax exemption applied to low value shipments, as this benefit creates an imbalance in competition with companies based in the European Union. If this review happens, consumers will be able to face an increase in the final cost of purchases made on these platforms.

The decision comes at a time when international e -commerce is in strong expansion, raising concerns about unfair business practices and the safety of products sold online. With the implementation of new measures, the European Union intends to reinforce industry regulation and protect both consumers and local retailers.
