Hamas announces in Moscow the prompt release of a Russian-Israeli hostage in response “to the Kremlin position on Palestine”
A delegation of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas announced on Monday the prompt release of a hostage with Russian and Israeli citizenship, Alexandr Trufánov, attending to the demand of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin.
“One of them, Trufánov, will surely be released shortly. It will be released despite the fact that it is a soldier, ”said Musa Abú Marzuk, one of the members of the Hamas political bureau, to the Ria Nóvosti agency.
Marzuk, who plans to meet in Moscow with Russian Vice Minister Mikhail Bogdánov, added: “This is our gesture of response to Russia’s position on the Palestinian matter.” He added that Maxim Herkin’s fate, another Russian hostage from Donbás, will decide “in a second phase”, although he clarified that “there are many details.” “We have reacted to Russia’s request only out of respect for President Vladimir Putin,” he said.
In mid -January, Putin called to do “the possible” to free Trufánov from captivity, a matter that was also treated by telephone between Bogdánov and the direction of Hamas. Trufánov, 29, was kidnapped in Niz or with his partner, his mother and grandmother on October 7, 2023 during the attacks perpetrated by Hamas in which they also killed his father.
