In a move that has no precedent, the government has announced that it was deducting four news organizations, including the New York Times, the places that have been given them as offices in, saying it wants to make room for others.

According to a Memorandum entitled “New Annual Media rotation Program”, in addition to the New York Times, the news organizations of the National Public Radio (NPR), NBC News (owned by Comcast Corp) and Politico must also evacuate their offices until February 14th. In their place, the offices will be taken by New York Post, One America News Network, Breitbart News Network and HuffPost News.

Every year, from an organization of print, internet, television and radio media, they will alternate in the Pentagon, “to allow everyone to have the unique opportunity to report” through the Pentagon, refers to the memorandum.

“We are disappointed with the decision to deprive us of a broadcast chamber at the Pentagon we used for many decades,” a NBC News spokesman said.

The NPR has expressed concern about Defeat and called on the Ministry of Defense to expand the office spaces available, so that all news organizations covering the Pentagon have equal access.

The New York Times and Politico did not immediately respond to a request to comment out of the working hours.

More than two dozen news organizations broadcast from the Pentagon.

The Pentagon Press Association, which represents journalists covering the Ministry of Defense, expressed its “great concern about this unprecedented move by the Ministry of Defense to ostracize large professional media”.
