The president of the Supreme Court (STF), Luís Roberto Barroso, ruled on Monday (3.FEV.2025) that the report of the Operation Overclean Inquiry, which investigates deviations in parliamentary amendments, will continue with Minister Kassio Nunes Marques.

The decision comes 1 day after the opinion of the PGR (Attorney General’s Office) for the minister to be kept in the direction of the investigation. The PF (Federal Police) asked the case to be redistributed to Minister Flávio Dino to avoid conflicting decisions.

“Although Min. Flávio Dino has, in fact, determined the establishment of investigation to determine alleged irregularities in the deliberative process to indicate parliamentary amendments, such determination should not lead to automatic prevention of his excellence to the police inquiry report established with the specific objective of investigating any illicit in contracts signed by the National Department of Drought Works (DNOCS) ”, argued Barroso. The investigation investigates a corruption and diversion scheme of R $ 1.4 billion in public resources, involving people linked to politicians of 8 parties.

The case came to the Supreme because the investigations indicated the possible participation of a federal deputy, who has a privileged forum. By lot, the inquiry was distributed to Minister Nunes Marques.
