Scheduled event in July 2025 will hire hydroelectric dams of up to 50 MW, with supply from January 2030

The MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) determined that electricity distributors have up to 10.FEV.2025 to send statements of need for purchase to the new power auction A-5. The procedure will be performed by CCEE (Electricity Marketing Chamber).

The event, scheduled for 25.Jul.2025, will hire energy from hydroelectric developments between 1 MW and 50 MW. The contracts will last 20 years, starting on January 1, 2030.

It establishes that eligible enterprises include:

  • Hydroelectric generating centers (CGH);
  • Small hydroelectric power plants (SHP);
  • Hydroelectric Plants (HPP) up to 50 MW and
  • Expansion of existing enterprises within these limits.

Distributors must send the statements through the CCEE system, with restricted access to registered users as “auction participant”. The information is confidential until the end of the bidding process and will serve to formalize energy marketing contracts in the regulated environment (CCEAR).

The event requires a minimum negotiation of 30% of the entrepreneur’s qualified energy. The maximum price will be equivalent to the ceiling established for SHPs in the A-6 auction of 2019, with update until the publication of the notice.
