For three days, the village of Alta Mora, inside the municipality of Castro Marim, received thousands of visitors from various parts of the world for another edition of the Flor of Algarve Festival, which took place between January 31 and February 2 .
Already considered one of the largest low -itch events in the Algarve region and a strong interior development engine, the festival originated for over two decades, with the creation of tourist pedestrian paths, a pioneering project in the Algarve that remains one of Its main attractions, having exhausted the capacity in this edition.
Among the great highlights of the event was the 43 -meter giant almond pie, the appreciation of local artists, artists and producers, who demonstrated their arts and live traditions, and a regional product market, where honey, dried fruits were lacking , sweets, crafts and basketry. The program also included workshops, live recreations, facial paintings, almond showers, animal farm, gastronomic demonstrations and traditional games.
The festival also featured musical and cultural animation, with the performance of Arutla, ethnographic group almonds in flower, sparrows to the loose and azinhal folk ranch.
The mayor of Castro Marim, Francisco Amaral, who affirms himself as “a proud mountain of the Northeast of the Algarve”, stressed the importance of Serra Algarvia, arguing that “despite all the strangles created, more and more gold”. In his inauguration speech, he highlighted the community character of the festival, which “is genuinely organized by the local inhabitants, from the youngest to the oldest, with much love to the nightgown.”
“It is a natural show of the experience of these proud, and that insist on living the present with the joy of those who savor the days and hours left of life,” he added.
The vice president of the municipality, Filomena Sintra, said that “the entities that decide and generate in the territory. Not only in investing in these initiatives, but who have a sensitivity in the planning area, because we need people in this territory. ”
The Algarve Flor of Almandeiras Festival was organized by the Recreational, Cultural and Sports Association of Friends of Alta Mora, in partnership with Omeleite Parish Council, with the participation of volunteers and residents who, with team -spirit and mission. , actively contribute to the fight against depopulation, isolation and desertification.
